As expected a grand showdown happened last Saturday nang ginanap ang season three finals ng Celebrity Duets. Jomari Yllana, Akihiro Sato and Joel Cruz gave their all and performed for their fans. And it was a riot! Dahil sinigurado nang final three na they will go out with a bang.
Jomari Yllana sang The Way You Look Tonight with Ms. Kuh Ledesma and Tell Me Your Name with Christian Bautista. As usual he got positive remarks from the judges.
Akihiro Sato charmed his way to Tom Jones’ Kiss and a song from the movie Music and Lyrics, Way Back into Love.
But the night belonged to the Lord of Scents, Joel Cruz, who took the judges’ comments by heart.
“Sinasabihan kasi ako ng judges, ‘You know Joel very stiff ka at masyadong formal’ so nagdamit babae ako, tapos nakita ko na natuwa sila, so iyon ang ginawa ko.”
And it worked dahil the judges indeed noticed a big improvement in Joel’s performances and apparently so did the viewers because Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid announced the Lord of Scents as the grand champion of Celebrity Duets.
“Hindi ko in-expect ito kasi malalakas din sila,” ang sabi ni Joel after the show. Diin pa niya na “hindi talaga ako nakakasiguro na ako ang mananalo.”
The perfume entrepreneur won P1 million which he announced will be given to 20 charitable institutions and churches nationwide.
“Naniniwala naman ako na hindi maganda ang boses ko. Hindi ko ginawa ito para maging sikat ako na singer. It's for charity lang talaga,” ang pahayag ng season 3 Celebrity Duets champion.
