Marami ang sasang-ayon na ang title ng drama series ni Iza Calzado na “Kaya Kong Abutin Ang Langit” ay napaka-appropriate especially when it comes to her career. At, as further proof of her versatility, she returns to the horror genre in the Hollywood-produced “The Echo” that is currently being shown in local theaters. "I am very honored and I feel very blessed na nagawa ko ito," declares Iza Calzado when iGMA asked her about her movie, The Echo. When asked about the local release of the film, she replies, "Kinabahan ho ako at nae-excite sa The Echo. Not for the project, but for me. Wala lang, kasi parang na-suportahan na siya--it being remade abroad."
Happy din naman si Iza that Direk Yam Laranas’s work in Sigaw was noticed no less by Hollywood. Iza stresses, "Direk Yam has brought this to an international level. And it’s not because I am part of it, but because natutuwa ako that a Filipino film caught the attention of independent Hollywood producers. And it was the first time that this happened so dapat din tayo magsaya."
Siyempre, very honored din si Iza for being cast in the remake. She reveals na siya "ay pinagpala na nasama sa proyektong ito. Siguro Direk Yam had a lot of auditions [for the part of Gina]. They already had auditions, but it was the casting director and the producers who made the decision [to cast me]. So ‘yun, binigyan nila ako ng chance and thank you for the internet that made it possible for my reel to be sent there and to Chuck Gutierrez--he directed my reel."
