Ang bagong album ni Jaya titled “Real Love Stories” ay katuparan ng mga pangarap niyang pag-isahin ang mga kanta na naging bahagi na ng buhay niya--as a daughter, a mother and a singer. Text by Erick Mataverde. Photos courtesy of GMA Records and Mitch S. Mauricio.

starsDuring the album launch last October 12 sa Hard Rock Cafe in Makati, Jaya gave members of media a peek into her new album, Real Love Stories. And we found out what makes this latest project different and more personal. Para sa kanya, each song has a story behind it.

One of the tracks she sang during the event were “Finding Out The Hard Way,” a Cynthia Rhodes original. "I remember singing this when I was 12 years old. Sa mga hindi pa po nakakaalam, napilitan naman akong maging singer dahil sa nanay ko (Ms. Elizabeth Ramsey). Pinilit niya ako at nagpagawa siya ng mga areglo na kinakanta ko pag nag-sho-show siya," she fondly shares.

Real Love Stories is a follow-up to her revival album, Cool Change. "First time ko nun nag-revival album, so nag-enjoy ako and I wanted to do another one. Nag-iisip kami ng mga kanta na talagang kuwento ng buhay pag-ibig--pero iba't-ibang klaseng pag-ibig." Jaya reveals. "And feeling ko naman kasi I should really give it my own style."

For Jaya, pakiramdam niya ang mga songs Real Love Stories reflect on her life experiences, especially those which made her the person she is now.

"Kung ikukuwento ko medyo mahaba. Marami kasi nangyari sa akin and a few people know that I was married before," she explains. "It was the best kasi he saved me from my lowest low. It was the worst kasi I thought he wanted to have children, but he didn't. So he went his way and I went mine."

She jokingly added, "Marami pa, I intend to write a book about it!"

Before singing “I Won't Last A Day Without You” by Paul Williams, the proud mom declares, "This is really a labor of love, and I wanted to dedicate a song that I wanted to dedicate to my two children, Sabriya and Dylan. Discombobulated po ang aking growing up years so finding a family of my own was probably the biggest achievement that I have ever done in my life."

starsThe 14-song Real Love Stories also includes Jaya's own versions of “After All,” “Anyone Can See,” “Breathe Again,” "Hiding Inside Myself,” “I Just Can't Let Go,” “I Will Survive,” “Real Love,” “Maybe This Time,” “Old Friend,” and “Save The Best For The Last.”

"Finally the second album under GMA Records is out in the market. Sana po pakinggan ninyo, napakagandang CD na ito and I'm very, very proud of what we have accomplished with this project, so GMA Records maraming salamat sa opportunity ulit na makagagawa ng album ulit," Jaya tells everyone at the launch.

For her next album, she plans record all-original songs once more, "Actually, ayaw ko nang mag-revival--promise. Mga matitinding love songs, nami-mimiss ko na nga din yun eh. So hopefully maging hit din naman ito kasi I really love this album. Alam ko din naman [na] marami rin makaka-relate sa mga songs."
