Inamin ni Rhian Ramos na kakaiba naman talaga ang totoo niyang persona sa mga recent roles niya onscreen. And for her legions of fans, this is the reason behind their all-out support for the young actress. Text by Erick Mataverde. Photos by Mio de Castro.

Online fans of Rhian Ramos were once more treated to a memorable afternoon during her live chat last September 29. Pansamantala niyang iniwan niya ang enigmatic na karakter niyang si Jodi sa Stairway To Heaven, upang sagutin ang mga tanong with the same gusto she had during her previous chats.

Following the destruction caused by typhoon "Ondoy" the previous weekend, Rhian was just what the online fans were looking for to brighten their day. Though the poor road conditions made her arrive a bit late, this did not deter her from extending the chat for her online fans.

The iGMA event was very timely, as she was about to celebrate her 19th birthday on October 3.

"Originally iba 'yung plano ko nang pag-celebrate--medyo light and bubbly, like me. Pero dahil kailangan ng mga kababayan ng tulong natin, gusto ko i-dedicate 'yung birthday ko dun," Rhian shares. "We can get together and do volunteer work. That way, mas meaningful din 'yung birthday ko. Let's all take some time off during that day and do something good."

Slow typist, animated chatter

At, tulad ng inaasahan, she tried to answer as many questions posted by her online fans in spite of admitting to having a slight handicap pagdating sa online chatting.

"I really enjoyed it! Pero 'yung problem kasi sa akin, sobrang bagal kong [mag-type]," admits Rhian. "Alam mo 'yung two-finger typist? Never ko natutunan sa school na gamitin 'yung buong kamay ko so pag sumasagot ako mabagal."

She was just simply happy to be given this opportunity to once again bond with her online fans, "Pinaka bumabawi ako kasi animated ako kausap, siguro dun lang ako bumabawi. Pero ang bagal kong chatter! I wish I answered more questions."

And dahil nga hindi naman baguhan si Rhian sa live chat, ang feeling niya is that she is all the more getting closer to her fans.

"I've noticed that the more I chat, the people start knowing na talaga what to ask. Parang they base their questions upon something they already know about [me]," she observes. "They know I like deserts among all food, so they ask [about] my favorite desert. They're very specific which I like."

Getting connected

Dagdag pa ni Rhian that she realizes na importante para sa mga fans ang mga moments na ito sa kanila.

"The reason why we do [the live chat] is to be more connected with each other, to build a real rapport and relationship with your fans and those who support you. And, not only am I getting to know more about them, pero it's really obvious how we are reaching our goal," she notes. "Because it's obvious how much they know me na rin. With my first chat, super getting to know you, and later on, its evolving. I really enjoyed it, and I'm glad that I keep doing the iGMA Live Chat, I'm glad to be able to keep continuing it."

At dahil nga alam ni Rhian how valuable talaga ang online presence niya sa fans, she invites everyone to get into her social networks sa web.

"I should plug my Twitter [account]. I'm "whianwamos" cause someone took "rhianramos", so someone asked nga, 'What would my username be? So "whianwamos", sounds like, [so] close enough!'" stated Rhian. "Ayun, so people Tweet to me there, and also the statuses that I see in Facebook are really positive. So, I'm glad that those who do watch [Stairway To Heaven], say nothing but good about it."

So did Rhian get to learn anything new dito sa chat niya? She reveals that her fans are the ones who seem to be the lucky ones.

"People know my weaknesses and strengths already! They know I can't say no! If they say dance, I dance! I'm like a little puppet," our birthday girl joked.
