Starting September 14, something old—and something new—will once again be seen on GMA Telebabad. Ang 'Stairway to Heaven' na minahal nating mga Kapuso noon ay magbabalik muli, given new life by our own homegrown talents. Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mio de Castro.
Isang engrandeng palabas ang ihinanda ng GMA-7 para sa launch ng Stairway to Heaven kagabi. Featuring almost all the actors from the series, nagkaroon ng isang presentation kung saan ipinaalala sa press kung bakit minahal ng mga tao ang original na soap.
But instead of showing clips from the original series, the cast reenacted key scenes from the original Stairway to Heaven live on stage. This is the promise of GMA-7's remake of Stairway to Heaven.
Miss Wilma Galvante, Senior Vice President for Entertainment, tells the press present in the event that GMA-7 hopes that viewers of the remake would "enjoy the same way you enjoyed the original."
"We hardly embellished," dagdag pa ni Miss Galvante. She says that the original series already had the ingredients na akmang-akma sa panlasa ng Filipino viewers, thus wala nang kailangan idagdag to make it more Filipino at heart.
Beginning September 14, muling paiibigin nina Dingdong Dantes at Rhian Ramos ang mga Filipino with the "most tender love story for the year" as described by Miss Galvante.
At para sa mga nagsasabing hindi nababagay sina Dingdong at Rhian bilang partners sa Stairway to Heaven, Miss Galvante refers the press to the presentation na inihanda ng cast kung saan very effective ang portrayal ng dalawa sa iba't-ibang stages ng kanilang pagmamahalan: mula sa pagbabalik ni Cholo from the United States, to Jodi's amnesia, hanggang sa kanyang pagkabulag at eventual death.
"Let me assure you that we know that the two of them are effective in their portrayal," ika nga ni Miss Galvante. She continues that the two doesn't have to be a love team to be able to convey the emotions attached sa tamang portrayal sa characters nina Cholo at Jodi. "Makikita mo ‘yan sa tunay na artista."
And after a successful screening at SM Megamall the night before, Miss Galvante proves that GMA has made the right decision. "Maganda ang feedback," she affirms.
Stairway to Heaven also stars TJ Trinidad, Glaiza de Castro and Miss Jean Garcia. Also included in the cast are Miss Sandy Andolong, Jestoni Alarcon, Soliman Cruz, Karen delos Reyes, Carlo Gonzales and Paul Holme; with the special participation of Joshua Dionisio, Barbie Forteza, Joana Marie Tan and Jhake Vargas bilang mga kid versions ng main cast of characters.
Stairway to Heaven premieres September 14 sa GMA Telebabad, airing after Mars Ravelo's Darna and before Rosalinda.

The first episode was really FTW!!! Dingdong is really a great actor. No one can even question his credibility as an actor now and I'm proud that he's a home-grown talent of GMA. We're still waiting for Rhian but I have high hopes for her and I think we should give her a chance, she's done so much for Jodi's role like cutting her hair shorter and getting bangs for the role isn't easy when her hair is so beautiful as it is. All I'm saying is I have faith in GMA's choice, they clearly know what they're doing and we can't always have everything our way. If we really love GMA, we should support them all the way!!! *woot*

hindi ko napanood pilot episode ng stairway to heaven... kainis nga... pero bumawi naman ako on the following days.. GALING!!! ang galing ng mga gumanap bilang kid version of the main cast... specially kay jodi... ang galing nya umiyak... i do hope na sana bigyan silang apat ng show coz they really deserve it.. alagaan sana sila ng GMA 7... they will be the big stars of the next generation wala pa ring kupas si ms. jean... the the philippine's antagonist queen.. WELL DONE maraming protesta kay ms. rhian but i think let's just see first her performance on this series hindi yung sisiraan natin kaagad... okie... goodluck po... galingan mo... glaiza de castro surely will be the next ms. jean... go DINGDONG and goodluck... and also to MS. RHIAN
