Isa nanamang challenging role ang tinanggap ng Kapuso hunk na si Alfred Vargas. At, para sa kanya, his role and working with Marian again is definitely worth his while. Text by Erick Mataverde. Photo by Mitch S. Mauricio.
"Sobrang excited ako for this project kasi Darna. I'm a fan of Darna eh. Sa week two pa ako lalabas. Pero I'm very excited sa role ko. I'm playing a reporter na nagfo-follow kay Darna," said Alfred Vargas sa kanyang role bilang si Gabriel, ang reporter na humahabol sa mga heroic exploits ni Darna.
At kinumpirma niya na siya ay magkakaroon ng special na pagtingin sa pangkaraniwang nilalang na si Narda at sa kanyang bayaning alter-ego na si Darna.
"Inevitable 'yun. I'm the reporter who's gonna follow her stories throughout. Siyempre magkakaroon ako ng interest kay Darna. Halos lahat naman ng lalaki naiin-love kay Darna – baka hindi lang love triangle, love octagon pa!" joked Alfred.
Though hindi pa natin siya nakikita sa mga current episodes, Alfred has already prepared for his role: "I'm thinking of my character and iniisip ko kung papaano ko ia-attack [‘yung role]. Sobrang simple lang naman eh."
"Siguro, alam mo naman na pagka telefantasya, hindi natin alam [ang mga mangyayari], pero all I know is it’s very rich in terms of the character. It’s a very interesting character for me," Alfred said, hinting na baka magkaroon din siya ng di pangkaraniwang kapangyarihan dito.
At, ang isa pang bagay that this actor is looking forward to is to work with Marian Rivera once more, not to mention the rest of the cast.
"I'm very comfortable working with her, I've worked with her in Muli, tapos sa telefantasya naman, ‘yung Dyesebel, and she's a very good friend of mine. For me, she's the biggest star today sa buong Pilipinas," he declared. "[And] I'm very blessed dahil magagaling ang mga directors dito tapos Marian Rivera pa, at powerhouse cast siya talaga."
"I would like to invite everyone, lahat ng ating mga Kapuso na manood po ng Darna. Sigurado ako, magugustuhan ninyo 'to at marami kayong mga bagong makikita sa Darna na ito." Alfred urged his fans and supporters. "Maraming mga sorpresa at makukulay [pa] ang mga characters."
