Para kay Carla Abellana, ang kanilang tambalan ni Geoff Eigenmann ay isa lamang sa mga dahilan kung bakit kaabang-abang ang 'Rosalinda.' Text by Erick Mataverde. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.

Ngayong darating na Lunes, July 6, 2009, masasaksihan na natin ang isang makasaysayan na kaganapan sa telebisyon, as our very own version of Rosalinda becomes a part of our prime time viewing habits.

At ang ating Pinay Rosalinda na si Carla Abellana ay very excited sa kanilang tambalan ni Geoff Eigenmann, who will play the lead part of Fernando Jose. "How is he as a leading man? He’s very good, ano siya, 'yung bang nag-ga-guide eh. So at times, it’s true, may times na kinakabahan ako or under a lot of pressure [at] si Geoff po 'yung [taong] tatabihan ka, kakausapin ka, and and he’ll put you at ease," ang kanyang pabungad nang kausapin siya sa press conference ng show.

Pero sila na ba ni Geoff?

"Ay! It’s so early to tell! (laughs)," ang sagot ni Carla.

Though she only has praises for her co-star. When asked what she like best about Geoff, si Carla ay nag-paliwanag, "His being a gentleman. Talagang mabait na tao [siya]—kahit sino pa 'yan kakausapin niya, bibigyan niya ng oras at attention. Mabait siya, gentleman, magpu-pull siya ng chairs for you, mag-oopen ng doors [at] ga-guide ka niya."

As for her kissing scenes with Geoff, this is what she has to say: "Wala naman po masyado pang ganun, parang attempts pa lang, pero not quite."

But she readily answers the question kung ready na siya sa mga scenes na 'yun with a resounding "Of course!"

How about her adjusting to showbiz and especially sa mga intriga na surely would come her way?

"Opo, na-adjust na po ako doon in terms of the hectic schedules and all the hair and make-up, adjusted na po doon. Ang intriga naman po—kasi, sabi ko, 'Never ka naman talaga matututo unless nandiyan na.' Eh, so never mo mapre-prepare yung sarili mo wholly for intrigues unless you’re already there, it’s just a matter of, I guess, 'yung character mo, how you react to it, your attitude towards intrigues, so ganun," paliwanag ni Carla.

And Carla tells us all to rest assured that she will be 100 percent behind her work. Papaano niya mapu-pull off ito?

Banggit niya, "I guess, 'yung best ko. Doon po nila makikita kung ano 'yung kakayanan ko bilang isang artista at aktres, 'di ba? Makita nila 'yung personality ko kay Rosalinda, because I want everbody to know that we really have a lot of similarities. So I’m not saying hindi mahirap umarte bilang Rosalinda, I’m just saying na gagawin ko po 'yung best ko bilang Rosalinda para matuwa po 'yung mga fans."

At speaking of intriga, tinanong si Carla kung kamusta naman ka-trabaho ang kanyang co-star na gaganap ng papel na Fedra? Para kay Carla, wala na siyang hahanapin pang ibang mas propesyonal na katrabaho.

"Ay! Magaling ho si Katrina (Halili) and in all fairness to her—coming from what happened to her. Once pagdating sa trabaho, focused siya, kitang-kita mo sa mga mata niya na focused siya, she’s in character. And she’s nice, as soon as 'pag nag-cut na kami, magso-sorry pa 'yan—'Uy sorry ha!' Ang bait, mabait si Katrina."
