Itong weekend, we will be treated to another new episode of 'Dear Friend.' Alamin natin from one of its musically inclined stars kung ano ang ma-eexpect natin sa panibagong istoryang ito. Text by Erick Mataverde. Photos by Jason John S. Lim.

Nang maabutan namin si Chris Cayzer sa photo shoot ng isang upcoming show, binalita niya sa amin what's keeping him busy nowadays. At kanyang kuwento that he will star in the next Dear Friend series: "[On] July 14, Dear Friend will be aired and I'm paired with Ryza Cenon."

Dagdag pa niya, "My character [here] is Troy, I'm one of the good friends of Mark Herras, dikit ako sa kanya. I became friends with him because I like his sister (Ryza)."

Chris further revealed a certain twist sa kanyang character dito: "Pero, that was my problem, because I promised I wouldn't get a girlfriend in the vacation, kasi it's called 'Bakasyonistas,' so we all went on vacation, then I fell in love with the sister and it's our secret—from the brother (Mark)."

"'Bakasyonistas' revolves around three male buddies, sina Mark, Chris and Rainier Castillo at mga babaeng magkakaibigan, played by Ryza, Isabel Oli and Sheena Halili. They separately take a vacation—ang mga guys para gumimik at ang mga girls para makipag-bonding. At sa di inaasahang pagkakataon, both their groups find themselves inside the same rest house. At dito na magsisimula ang mga kaguluhan.

"It’s a fun role, it’s a fun role! We had to go to Batangas for that," ang banggit pa ni Chris tungkol sa kanyang pag-portray niya kay Troy.

In the making

Pero hindi lang sa TV shows niya busying-busy si Chris; matter-of-fact, nagko-concentrate din siya sa pag-compose ng mga panibagong songs sa kanyang susunod na album.

"I've been recording some songs. I [am currently] recording my new two songs I composed. So, a lot of my compositions are gonna be into this album, it's gonna be under Warner music, [and] we're gonna be launching it soon in July," balita niya.

At hindi lang 'yun ang dapat abangan ng kanyang mga fans sa panibagong album na ito: "Well, there's a composition of Ogie Alcasid in there, he wrote me a song. Its called 'A Better Man.' I think it might be our first single, and then I covered a song from Viktoria, one of the local artists, and the rest are pretty much originals I wrote since the last album to this one."

Chris further offers a teaser to his compositions: "For now, if people want to get a taste of what the album is gonna sound like, please drop by Stone House (in Quezon City). Yeah, I'll be playing some songs there.

"Or even though they might not know those songs, they can just drop in their requests. There's no entrance fee, it's for free, just go there, have a seat, chill. And enjoy the environment."
