She may be a mommy but everyone cannot help but notice that Jaya Ramsey has gotten even more gorgeous. Have you seen the cover of her album Cool Change? It should be retitled Hot Change. This mama has turned all glam and iGMA was there to uncover her secrets to looking utterly diva-licious! Text by KC M. Abalos. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.
diva: noun (dÄ-vÉ) plural- divas or dive: Etymology- Italian, literally, goddess, from Latin, feminine of divus divine, god: a usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality (a fashion diva); especially : a popular female singer

According to this definition, Jaya is a certified diva. She not only sounds good, she looks good as well. Her latest album, Cool Change captured Jaya body and soul. The album has been raking in the sales and the radio votes. This success may be explained by the Soul Diva's powerful voice, the selection of soulful songs, or it may simply be because Jaya looked totally hot on the cover.
Of course, when we voiced our observation during an exclusive interview, Jaya just blushed, said "thanks", and humbly clarifies, "hindi naman ako masyado marunong when it comes to fashion and imaging. But when you work with good people, I suppose they know how you should look."
She may look all glamorous and sexy but Jaya admits that she never really cared much for kikay stuff like make-up and clothes. "I don't really know how to fix myself eh", she reveals. That fact does not matter though because with her hair in sensuous disarray and her smoky come-on eyes, a look she helped devise for her latest album's photos and videos, Jaya can easily pose for a men's magazine. Check out the Making the Video Gallery for behind the scenes photos of her video shoot!
"Kapag may music video, that's the only time I get to be kikay. Dress up na ito! Ito yung pinaka-paborito ko sa lahat eh" she shares with school girl enthusiasm.
Blast from the Past
She describes her everyday, non-showbiz look as "common na kulot na normal lang". Well, there's nothing common about Jaya now. But back when she was a newbie in the biz, she says there were some harrowing stories she could share about how she was dolled up by make-up artists.
"There were times, a long time ago, noong bago pa lang ako. 'Di ko alam kung sisigaw ako sa puot o magwawala ako kasi talagang hindi bagay sa akin yung itsura ko. But masunurin kasi ako eh. So even if I'm mad inside, sige na lang para matapos na."
It is only at this point in her career that she started voicing her opinions. Primarily because she is now more aware of what suits her in terms of color and style.
Again with a humility at odds with the usual traits of a diva Jaya states, "Kapag nagkakaroon ka na ng konting boses puwede ka ng mag-suggest. Uy, baka puwede konti lang dito or dagdagan mo yung shade." Prima donna? Definitely not! But in terms of talent and looks, Jaya is a true diva!
