Going sexy was probably the last thing on Rich Asuncion’s mind when she joined StarStruck late last year. But the fourth batch’s first princess is carving her own place in the competitive world of saucy girls. Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.
Rich Asuncion is already getting used to being a bombshell with her Boys Nxt Door character’s choice of clothing and her costumes on SOP.
“Mukha ngang ‘yun na ‘yung niche ko dito sa showbiz,” Rich laughs as she remembers the clothes she has worn for both of her shows. But Rich doesn’t regret showing some skin, especially since it led to her being given a part in Billy Crawford’s steamy music video, Like That.
“Nung una kong nalaman na kasali ako sa music video ni Billy Crawford, siyempre masaya ako kasi crush ko ‘yun eh!” Rich squeals. She adds that even before she joined StarStruck, she already idolized the International Pop Phenomenon. “So nung nalaman ko na kasali ako [sa video], siyempre na-excite ako.”
The shoot was not without downside, Rich reveals. She shares that while she is fine with showing some skin, she definitely wasn’t ready for what director Louie Ignacio had in mind for the music video.
“‘Yung kanta pala, hindi masyado wholesome,” Rich says with a laugh. She continues that she had to go more daring than she had before. “May part pa na kaming dalawa, sobrang... close!” Rich finished with another laugh. But she puts in that she definitely didn’t mind being... close to Billy Crawford. “Siyempre heaven na heave ako noon kasi crush ko siya!”
The young celebrity admits that she did feel shy in front of the international pop star because the music video was the most daring project she has undertaken. “Pero hind naman malaswa,” Rich defends. “Masaya naman, [at] hindi naman [ako] binastos.”
She also says that given the chance, she would do it again, “kung si Billy Crawford pa rin!”
