The show may be called Boys Nxt Door, but that doesn’t mean that thee series doesn’t have its own bombshell who’s knocking the socks off the guys next door. But how much of a bombshell babe is Rich Asuncion in real life?
A season and some episodes of Boys Nxt Door later, Rich Asuncion definitely knows the sacrifices she has to make for her showbiz career. As the curvaceous Winona, Rich’s standard outfit consists of mini-skirts or s tiny horts, skimpy tops or short dresses. A very big challenge for the StarStruck Avenger from Bohol.
“Naiintindihan ko naman na ganoon talaga ‘yung nire-require ng character,” Rich says after telling us that even after all the episodes they’ve taped, she’s still uncomfortable with her character’s choice of clothes. “Hindi naman ako nahahawa sa character (ko) kasi ibang-iba (kami).”
And as long as there’s still a difference, Rich doesn’t mind showing some skin. “Sinasanay ko (lang) ‘yung sarili ko.”
Unlike her character, Rich explains that she prefers being simple to being noticed. “Sobrang pa-girl (si Winona). Kailangan na nakaayos palagi. Sa totoong buhay, hindi naman talaga ako nag-aayos. Siyempre, probinsyana. (Sanay ako sa) simpleng buhay.”
“Hindi ko talaga alam kung anu-ano ‘yung panglagay sa katawan para maging presentable,” Rich laughs. “Hindi talaga ako ‘yun.”
Still, Rich says her costume isn’t so much of a problem anymore. In fact, she’s starting to adapt her character’s choice of clothes in her everyday wear -- just not as revealing. But while Rich has made her peace with the costume requirements, there is one aspect of Winona that she’s still struggling with: the voice.
“Nahihirapan ako sa boses ko para i-modulate na pang girl,” Rich reveals with another laugh. “Pinagtatawanan nga nila ako noon kasi hindi malandi ang boses ko.”
Rich may not be the super siren that she plays onscreen but this talented young actress is still a hottie in real life that fans continue to flock around her. -- Text and Photos by Jason John S. Lim.
