Diana Zubiri may have been typecast into roles of strong bombshells that mix sexy with strength. Just look at her past characters Danaya and Ingrid. Now she plays the crime-fighting Carmela on Zaido. But Diana admits that she loves playing the strong and independent woman, after all she is a lot like that in real life. Text by Alula Love M. Dela Cruz. Interviewed by Jason S. Lim. We've been seeing Diana Zubiri play a feisty-independent heroine in Encantadia and Asian Treasures. As she joins the cast of the sci-fi show Zaido it's no surprise that she's playing another one of these types of ladies. As Carmela, a security guard, whose sexy body combined with a fearless outlook in life, she attracts Gallian (Dennis Trillo) who mistakenly thinks that she is Ariana, his fiancée from another planet.
With similar characters under her belt, how does Diana differentiate Carmela from her previous characters? "Pag Danaya iba yun eh Sang're siya. Pagdating kay Ingrid may powers siya eh through anting-anting, dito ang alam ko magkakapower din ako."
Diana doesn't mind being typecast in this kind of characters as long as she gets a chance to work with different kinds of people. "Siyempre another life after Asian Tresaures sila din before doon ko lang sila nakasama, mahirap mag-adjust pero kailangan makisama ng mabuti."
On Zaido, she will be working with a mix of new and familiar faces. Meeting new people may be hard at first but as long as you know how to mingle and have fun your guaranteed to gain new friends. "Sa cast wala naman akong problema, si Marky (Cielo) magkasama kami sa Asian Treasures, si Dennis sa Etheria, ang bago kong makakatrabaho si Karel (Marquez) at Lovi (Poe)."
She also admits that she's excited about the project because most of his co-stars are the coolest guys in the industry which means it's going to be loads of fun. "I think magiging masaya siya dahil puro mga lalake yan eh."
The sexy actress plays identical characters on-screen so it's up to Diana how to make each character differ from the others. "Try kung ibahin and kung ano man yung iba pang roles ko dito mas pagagandahin ko pa."
