After the success of “Black Jewel in the Palace” in Magic Kamison, Jewel Mische’s next step is to set primetime television afire in the highly anticipated series, Kamandag. Sure, she is StarStruck Season 4’s Ultimate Sweetheart. But who’s to say what can happen after the excitement of the contest has come and gone? The true test of stardom is if one can stay under the bright lights of showbiz especially with the fierce competition, rampant gossip and all the hoopla that comes with sudden fame.
Jewel has undergone all these and more in her short stint in the biz. But through it all, she remained silent and still. Her graceful patience has paid off. She not only has a new television series. She has a movie to boot!
Kamandag is the latest telefantasya GMA is brewing, with directors Mark Reyes and Topel Lee as the head chefs. Aside from Jewel, Ehra Madrigal and Maxene Magalona will also try to win Richard Guttierez’ heart.
Dagaw, meanwhile, is the latest silver screen project of, once again, Richard Gutierrez.
With no less than Richard as a leading man in both ventures, how is this gem handling her climb towards the stars?
“I feel like any other girl would feel if they would be given a chance to work with Richard. I feel so flattered and honored.”
What was her first reaction when she heard that the handsome actor, reportedly, personally chose her to be his onscreen sweetheart? Jewel answers with disbelief written all over her pretty face. “I’m quite surprised, really! I’m so happy.” She adds, “I’m so excited knowing that Richard is Richard. Napakabait niya… napakabait.”
In the work that they have done so far, how is Richard as a loveteam partner?
“
He is very supportive. In every way he can, bukod sa maalalahanin siya. Maasikaso siya sa leading lady niya. Ginagabayan niya ako.”
Aside from singing her praises for the young but seasoned actor, she also gives credit to his experience and talent.
“You know as a tenured actor, kasi matagal na siya. Alam na niya kung ano ang dapat gawin. He gives tips, advice, and very helpful iyon sa akin lalo na he doesn’t make me feel intimidated. It helps a lot.”
This is the season of many firsts for Jewel, first film, first primetime series. First kiss? How is the novice going to handle the delicate scenes?
“He’s going to be my first real, onscreen kiss. Actually sa movie ang dami kong gagawin na first time, aside from the kissing scene. How do I feel about that? I feel so nervous honestly, I don’t know what to do!”
Your fans are sure that you will know what to do when the time comes along, Jewel. You have not disappointed them so far and it is doubtful that you will start doing so now.
