Who says only downright beautiful girls deserve guys’ attention? The homely Luming proves otherwise as three pretty boys affect the way her life revolves in her auntie’s mansion. iGMA sits with Luming’s princes for a chat, and finds out what makes working with her special.
Magic Kamison offers another tale that is sure to touch everyone’s hearts. Titled ‘Black Jewel in the Palace’, this is a story about Luming (played by Jewel Mische), a black teenager who is often taunted because of her color and maltreated by her aunt and cousins. But three guys make Luming’s days more exciting. They play equally important roles in her life: a best friend, an admirer and a basher.
Dream Come True

Paulo Avelino plays Poy, Luming’s best friend and constant savior ever since they were kids. He always defends Luming from people who tease her because of her physical appearance.
But Poy likes Luming more than as a friends, that is why “nagseselos ako kasi parang may gusto si Charlie kay Luming”. This is one similarity Paulo finds in his character, as he has often confessed his admiration for Jewel, during their StarStruck days.
“Ka-partner ko si Jewel! Parang (siya) ‘yung dream partner ko, tapos ‘yun natupad nga,” he shares, laughing.

Unlike the timid and reserved Poy, however, Paulo says “makapal ang mukha ko.” In fact, this trait has helped him mingle with his co-stars and enjoy working with them. “I’m doing my best in the taping para walang magalit sa akin.”
Typecast
“Akala ko ako ang magsusuot ng kamison!” Chuck Allie shares. “’Nung nalaman kong kasama ako sa Magic Kamison , na-excite ako kasi I have not acted for a while.”
Chuck is Charlie, a balikbayan who falls for the innocent Luming. As this is the type of role he has usually played (as in Now and Forever’s Duyan ), he says, “I guess I’m
prepared naman for this role.”

“Feeling ko na-typecast na ako sa ganitong role, (pero) I’m cool with it.” he says. “Masaya naman ako. First time kong makakasama sina Paulo, Dion and Jewel, and I’m excited na ngayon nakikipag-friends na ako sa kanila.”
Good boy
Third on the list is Dion Ignacio , who plays Aloy in the story. He does not uplift Luming’s confidence, but makes sure he helps Jewel perform the best way she can off cam.

“Sabi ko nga sa kanya (Jewel), ‘gusto mo, tulungan kita?’. Sabi niya, ‘sige’. (Tapos) talagang binigay ko ‘yung emotions doon sa character para makuha niya,” he shares.
Still, unlike the arrogant Aloy, Dion says he really has to exert effort to be a bad guy. “Hindi kasi ako ganoon eh, tahimik lang ako. Nag-i-internalize ako, nilalagay ko sa puso ko (‘yung role). Kailangan talaga kapag kontrabida role, in character ako.”
